1.You can play it in four different ways:
- Hide your face behind your fingers, move your hands and say PEEK A BOO! (as in picture)
2. Place your hands in front of your baby's eyes, remove them and say
PEEK A BOO!
3. When baby is a little older:
- Peek around the corner of a piece of furniture.
- Use a cloth that baby can pull off easily as you call out PEEK A BOO!
4. By around 8 months of age your baby may want to use their own hands to cover your eyes or their own eyes.
5. PEEK A BOO RHYME
Peek a boo, Peek a boo,
Peek a boo, I see you.
Where are you, where are you?
I see you, PEEK A BOO!
PLAYING THIS GAME DEVELOPS:
Understanding that objects exist even if you can't see them. From about birth to two years of age, babies do not understand this concept of object permanence.
Also it is great for vision and bonding and mostly a sense of fun.

All our kids love this game but had never heard of the Peek A Boo RYHME so that was great to learn.
ReplyDeleteThe peek a boo rhyme was something I just made up when working with babies and actually doing parachute time where we lift the parachute up and down - this is like a giant parachute game.
